BIO:
An attorney-at-Law, served as the Seventh Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for the period May 24, 2010 through September 7, 2015.
She is currently in her twenty-seventh year of consecutive service as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency of Siparia in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Mrs. Persad-Bissessar is currently the Political Leader of the United National Congress (UNC) political party and the Leader of the Opposition.
She was the first woman to serve as Attorney General, Minister of Legal Affairs, Prime Minister, and Leader of the Opposition in Trinidad and Tobago as well as being the first woman to serve as Chair-in-Office of the Commonwealth.
